Lipedema Therapy

The goal of lipedema therapy is twofold: 1) to improve/eliminate symptoms by reducing edema through conservative measures, and 2) to reduce fatty tissue through surgical methods (liposuction).

To reduce edema, physical measures in the form of complex or combined physical decongestive therapy are applied.

This includes:

  • manual lymph drainage
  • Compression (in the decongestive phase: compression bandages, in the maintenance phase: medical compression stockings)
  • Motion therapy/exercises
  • Skin care

Intermittent pneumatic compression can be used concurrently for additional support, especially in reducing pain.
